There will be up to 30 lucky guests winning the prize, with the winners announce at 5PM Friday 11th November.
What are soba noodles?
Soba is the Japanese name for buckwheat, and therefore the noodles are made from buckwheat flour. Buckwheat is low in gluten and contains all eight essential amino acids and so soba noodles have great health properties.
Because buckwheat is low in gluten they can be difficult to make. It took Executive Chef Paul Greening three months to create a recipe and him and his team make them from scratch each week.
Buckwheat can be grown all year round and can be harvest every four months, which means that toppings for a bowl of soba noodles are traditionally very seasonal.
Kyoto Soba Bowls
There are three options and all are served with edamame & pickles
Kurobuta pork, Japanese root vegetables, marinated soya hens egg and green tea soba. The pork is melt-in-your-mouth with a silky, rich broth – perfect for a chilly day.
Sea bass, wakamame, ginger, root vegetables, marinated soya hens egg, king crab oil and green tea soba. The broth is light and clear, but with depth of flavour that works well with the delicate seabass – goodness in a bowl.
Japanese sweet corn, mushroom, vegetables miso mushroom broth, marinated soya hens egg and sweet potato soba. This fragrant and full bodied broth, with vegetables that add crunch and texture – a wonderful, invigorating winter warmer.
The prize is lunch for two and includes: a kyoto soba bowl and a soft drink each.
