Easter Weekend at aqua london

easterical cocktail

The long break over the Easter weekend is always a great opportunity to take it easy, catch up with friends and family and eat mountains of chocolate without feeling (too) guilty. But you’ll be wanting to get out of the house at some point, so you’ll be pleased to know that we’re open all weekend with a variety of treats to tempt you.

From Friday 18th March until Easter Monday 28th inclusive, we’re serving our exclusive Easterical Easter cocktail in the bar. A delicious blend of dark rum, banana liqueur, white and dark chocolate liqueur and almond milk, it’s all the best bits of a box of chocs in a glass…with a kick!

On Good Friday and Easter Saturday, aqua Kyoto, aqua nueva and aqua spirit are all open as usual (except for a slightly earlier 10.30pm close on Good Friday) serving their regular menus. Then on Easter Sunday and Monday, we’re open from midday through until 10.30pm. Read more +

Pick the perfect present – an aqua gift voucher!

Vouchers

Sometimes it’s hard to find the perfect gift, especially for the man or woman who has everything. We think we might just have the answer though – a gift voucher for aqua nueva or aqua kyoto!

Treat the gourmet in your life to a voucher – available in multiples of £50 to spend in either restaurant. Vouchers can be used in full or part payment of any final bill; £150 for aqua kyoto would comfortably cover our famous Infinity Brunch for two people, or if Spanish food’s their thing, how about £100 so they can enjoy Sobremesa Sunday in aqua nueva?

Celebrating something special? Then why not delight them with a gift voucher for a bottle of Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label Champagne? This popular option is a great gift solution; who doesn’t love hearing the pop of a Champagne cork and sipping on an ice-cold flute of fizz, in the gorgeous surroundings of one of our bars?

All gift vouchers come beautifully packaged in a chic gift wallet which can be sent to the buyer or directly to the lucky recipient – or, for those last-minute gifts, you can choose to print the voucher yourself. It takes a few seconds but the memory will last much, much longer!

Celebrate World Sake Day at aqua kyoto

Sakes

Sake, the elegant fermented rice wine, is a complex and delicious drink whose many varieties are as prized in Japan as Champagne is in France, but less appreciated outside of its native country.

World Sake Day, which occurs annually on 1st October, celebrates sake in all its forms as well as marking the traditional start of the sake production season. To celebrate World Sake Day, all guests joining us for dinner in aqua kyoto on Thursday 1st October will receive a complimentary sake aperitif. Our sommelier Carlo will also be on hand to help guests who would like to explore our comprehensive sake list in choosing one to complement their meal.

Matching sake to wine is a fascinating process; some sakes – the more typical varieties – have an aroma not unlike white wine but a smoother, some say almost nutty flavour. Darker varieties meanwhile have a more complex palate, while umeshu – plum – varieties are sweeter.

Kampai! (Cheers!)

aqua kyoto introduces ‘Food As Art’ menu

The exquisite, precise and colourful presentation of aqua kyoto head chef Paul Greening‘s Japanese cuisine often attracts comparisons with art, but for this new menu Paul has taken the association further, drawing inspiration from three contemporary Japanese artists.

In his ‘Food as Art’ menu Paul references the signature polka dots of Yayoi Kusama, bold, colourful abstracts of Tsuruko Yamazaki and the floral motifs of Ryoko Aoki. Available from 1st September – 30th November, the menu also coincides with FRIEZE Art Fair in October, where all three artists will be exhibited.
